I had like 4 projects fall through in a row but I blocked the time off and turned down other jobs that wanted the same blocks of time. Now I am going to owe a bunch of things and have to scramble to catch up (like that ever happens). I have others coming up but WTF!!!

Do you guys over-book and then when it gets closer to the gig turn one down or turn it over to another DP for the other to make sure the flo is there? I'm new to this freelance game. That waitress wanted sign is starting to look good now. :crybaby:
 
I might have something in October that I can't do that I will let you know about if that turns out to be the case.

A retainer, is always best. A little due on contract signing works out to be the same as a kill fee (which you will likely never collect on) if they pull the plug.
 
I will be in Italy from the 10th to the 17th unless that falls through also. :p Everything else is open so far. Thanks, I could use the cash.
 
I recut my reel and it seems like things are picking up fast but of course until someone actually cuts a check...
 
I had a corporate job for 5 intense days at the end of August that can pay NY rent for for 3 months, but who knows when I will see that check. I'm not a big corporation damn it. It matters when I get paid.

Also shot a gun shoot out on my block in Feb. still waiting on checks from 2 out of 4 networks - the bums. :badputer: :cheesy:

this is exactly what happened to me.... I quit my PArttime DAyjob, and pow, mad projects cancelled.....
 
YAY! Finally got some from the McGraw Hill shoot I did but I have to pay back all the loans i took to feed the kids, back rent and Con-Ed.
Come on roll a 7, cause daddy needs some NEW shoes!
 
You guys are making me nervous... I'm starting up a production company around the 2nd week of October and I hope things don't fall through like that...:undecided
 
Its going to be like that I'm betting. Things will look great for a whole month and boom. It hurts more when its like a 7 day shoot or more because you try not to get anything near those dates so you can be sure to get some prep time. Then when it goes south, you loose like 10-12 days out of a month.
