Struggling with keying out greenscreen

If you're still debating Conduit vs Shake, I think I'd recommend going with Conduit. I think you'll see some constant improvments still with conduit and with the better use of FxPlug in FCP realm. Shake is now a dead application. Rumours abound that Apple is going to replace it with a redesigned application (so Shake 5, but just hopefully such a good improvement that it actually warrants a new name). But we'll see on the latter part. Not that Shake can't still get it done for you, just that its day has come and gone now. Good luck.

Cheers.

What's the time line for the replacement of Shake?

The conduit isn't working fully:
1) The computer reinterprets her strands of hair when she moves, so the "spikes" of hair on the left side of the image appear pixelated. Is their a blur I can use to minimize pixelation and noise?
2) If I have reduced the spill to a thin line after Spill Suppression, what effect will take care of the line.

Also, I shot on the DVX, so I've been using 4:1:1 Color Smoothing before I add any other filters/effects. Is this correct?

No clue about the Shake replacement. As per usual Apple doesn't say anything about its software releases. Its always a rumour mill and wait and see kind of game. It would hope sooner rather than later, but who knows. Rumours I have heard is that its quite and overall, so much so that they are likely building the application from the ground up, instead of just re-hashing or trying to "fix" Shake. So any number of delays could happen in the process if that is the case.

As for the hair, I have a friend is a compositor and in most of his stuff (does Hollywood flicks) they will often actually remove the strands of hair from the green screen shot, sample a clean bit of hair from elsewhere (or even a stock image type shot-the wig filmed seperately for this purpose) and then add the loose hair back after the fact. I don't know if that's 100% necessary for all shoots or scenarios, but descriptions of shots he's done that are similar to yours (hair wise), that's what he's described to me as his workflow.

Cheers.
