AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 18-200mm, I've been looking around google and alot of places keep mentioning this anyone eactually use one?

I've got one and love it - the lens never leaves the camera. not great for indoor work as its a tad slow but that what a few good fast primes are for like the 50mm 1.8. Its pricey though. what lens are you currently shooting with? I'd learn about photography at this point and worry less about your equipment until you really know what suits your needs. Heck just limit yourself to the 50mm 1.8 and you will learn more faster than with having this behemoth hanging off your camera.

prevent, or at least hinder, certain shooting situations/conditions.

Example: my brother has one of these he uses for outdoor action shots. As evening approaches, and available lighting decreases, he finds that, even when the lens is set to use the widest aperture, he must drop to an exposure time that is now too low to catch the action without blur.

At least that's my understanding of the term "slow" when applied to a lens.

Hope that helps.

slow lenses typically have a higher minimum f-stop - 3.5-5.6 or so. A faster lens would have a lower minimum f-stop like 1.8 or 1.4 and be capable of letting it more light because of it. So if you have a whole bunch of light being limited by a slow lens isnt all that bad, but if say light is limited or you want to shoot at a high shutter speed a faster lens is required. Faster lenses are generally more expensive than slow lenses. Zoom lenses are generally slow to begin with since there is so much glass. Hence why its nice to have some prime lenses like a 50mm 1.8.

Iv'e looked everywhere I can't find anything with a really low F-stop any of you have a link? I might start shooting inside clubs and I kind of need it. I hate using flash so much.

If you hate using flash then you will never have professional gigs...

If you want fast zooms then you need to look towards the f2.8's.

There are lenses like:
17-55
24-70
28-70
70-200

Finding anything faster than a 2.8 is cost and size prohibitive.
