New to FCP questions...

Hey guys,

Just picked up FCP 5 from a friend and an old G4. I'm brand new and it was next to free so I couldn't pass up the deal. I'm going to edit a project I shot but I'm starting from scratch. I just picked up "Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro 5" book.

What else should I look into? If I study this book for a few weeks could I potentially begin the process ok? I'm going to go through all the threads in here too for learning purposes. Is there a good FCP forum I can visit too?

Any tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Read all the FCP stuff in there too.

You'll be fine. Editing is editing on any system... just better with FCP.

I know my FCP DVDs came with a tutorial disc on it. I would also ask a local FCP user if you could watch them edit some stuff while you watch them. You could also join the local FCP user group, and since you are in LA that would be the best place to start making contacts.

i like lynda.com get a month subscription, and watch all the FCP stuff.

Pretty nervous. Got the bundle today. Got a G4 with FCP5, a 500gig external drive, pro tools, photoshop CS2, soundtrack and a few other cool programs, all for under 600 bucks. I'm off to study for the next couple weeks in hopes of actually editing something soon. Baby steps
