not able to view footage in monitor

I am working in FCP 5.1.4 and I am hooked up to a field monitor via firewire to camcorder to monitor. After I have captured, I try to view footage(settings to external A/V, all frames) and all I will get is a still frame from the footage before I hit play and then it goes blank. I have tried refreshing A/V and I will get still frame again, then same problem. I am capturing to native HD and then transferring capture scratch files to xternal hard drive. Any suggestions?

make sure you turn everything off then turn your computer on then turn the deck on then open fcp.

what camera are you trying to pass thru?
FYI: You can't use the HVX200 for HD pass thru monitoring.
Not sure about the other HDV cameras.
