Raylight and Premiere - Not Importing

I just DLed the trial version of Raylight and I can't seem to get it to work with Premiere. When I try to import an MXF file, Premiere gives me an error saying, "File format not supported."

Anyone have any ideas on this? I followed the tutorial and the troubleshooting documents but nothing seems to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Did you run Setup which installs the plugin? Go to DVFilm.com, click Support, Support Request, and most likely they will ask for the Log.txt file created by Raylight Setup.

Yes, I ran the setup file. I have a copy of Vegas 6 installed on my computer and it works fine with that but I can't get it to work with Premiere. Do you think having both Vegas and Premiere is the problem or should it still work?

It should work, but there are about a zillion questions to ask so I would go through support. It's free so why not.

Here's one thing that often comes up. When Ppro 2 or 1.5 is installed but then removed sometimes the folder is left as a stub. This confuses the raylight installer and it quits too soon. If you have any empty folders in /Program Files/Adobe remove them before running Raylight Setup.

Another thing we've encountered more than once is the user installs the Main Concept HD demo plugin and then forgets about it. It will interfere with the Raylight MXF plugin and should be removed.

There are some other things to check and the support team also has a manual installation procedure if all else fails.

Great! I'll try that. I have the trial version of Premiere CS3 installed so maybe that's confusing it... I've been trying to get Premiere Pro 2 to work with it...

Thanks for the help! If that doesn't work... I'll try the support...

Thanks again!

..if you havent gotten it yet. search for the "raylight.prm" file after install, and copy it to your PPRO plugins folder in a new folder called "raylight" or whatever you want to name it. once that file is in the proper directory (which is in the root or any subfolder within your PPRO plugins folder) it should work fine.

Neil, that fixed it. It works now. I do have another question though. Is it normal for there to be the red render bar above the clips in the timeline? Every clip I drop into Premiere has the red render bar. Is that normal?

Thanks!

yep its normal. it should play either at or near to realtime still though pending your system, and youll find that the output render times are pretty much the same as well.
