how do you carry around your audio gear?

I'm wondering how everyone is transporting around their audio gear.
Do you use the same case as your video equipment or something seperate?
I don't have any more room in my video case (Kata MC-61), so i guess I'm looking for recommendations and what everyone else is using...
(I'm using a boom, NTG2 mic, xlr cables, 2 sennheiser wireless setups, batteries and all lkinds of little stuff)

Backpack or hard case?

I just keep all my stuff in bags. This is helpful especially if they have the shoulder straps. Eventually I want to use some kind of cheap dolly system though to save on my chiropractor (sp?) bills in the future.

For basic work I use a Petrol Ergonizer Bag. I have the audio harness for it as well but don't need it all the time.

I am looking at moving to a cart based environment but not until after my Red One arrives in the next several weeks.

We use the Pelican 1720 Hard case with wheels. Its made for guns and stuff but long enough for a boompole, mics and cables. Works like a charm.

Petrol Eargonizer PEGZ-2 (Large). IT IS AN AWESOME BAG. Can't say enough great things about it. It beats the Porta-brace bgas I've had HANDS DOWN. Porta-brace has really let me down on many products in the last 2 years--- I think they've rested on their laurels and haven't kept pace with the newer kids on the block like Petrol, Kata, Cinebags, etc.

I searched for 'case' and 'bag' and didnt come up with anything, I should have done some more extensive searching, sorry for the repeat...
Thanks for the link too :-)

I am also wondering how you guys carry your mics within your bag/cases (when not in a windshield. I tend to be over protective and generally this means carrying the original cases in a bag.

Any thoughts?

im sure there are all sorts of considerations travelling mics. personally, i use a little buble wrap, keep the foam windscreen on, and put them in an empty lectro case. i also put a "gel" packet in there to reduce humidity. i then have this in my pelican case

I use a Petrol Ergonizer and for the extra stuff I use soft bags that I've bought in local discount stores that were a good deal. Padding with foam from the local fabric shop is handy for stuff you want to give extra protection. I like the quality of Petrol bags -- actually returned a Portabrace and bought the Petrol awhile back. For the smaller stuff any soft bag and some foam works good and won't cost you a lot of money that can be used for other things.

I use a huge combination of cases and bags. I use the Petrol large if I'm doing ENG, if I'm doing cart-based work, I use Porta-brace Vault hard cases (similar to Pelican at about half the price) and cheaper Vanguard cases (slowly being phased out).

For my wireless, I'm in the process of building a rack for my Lectro R400a's and my G2 base stations (going to stick with 2 g2's and 2 lectro's for the immediate future, but will swap out the second pair of g2's in the next month or two). I will be using antenna combiners (RF Multi's from PSC) and two PSC sharkfins (still trying to figure out how they're going to hang). The rack will probably be a 4U rack, with a 2U drawer and a 1U rack shelf. The drawer should be big enough to hold the Tx's and mics. I'll post pictures when all is said and done.

I use a Honda Element, in which I have a Gator G-Shock 12U rack that tends to sit on a Rock'n'Roller RR12 cart; I have cases (pelican-y) for different mics, a few bags that hold cables, a lot of bags (Petrol) for mic stands/booms etc.; and most importantly a bag that is chock full of useful tools, mounts, and adapters that can handle almost any situation. I have additional equipment racks for equipment I don't use on every project... and lots of bungee cords and gaffers tape.
