1 page Screenplay I randomly wrote.

I could go on and on, but the Mods have asked that politics stay out of this forum.

In short, I can say society has become more or less dysfunctional. Dumbed down. Lost it's panache. X-box educated and over-righteous. Other than that things seem to be alright.

Alex

"he digs in, hungrily devouring every morsel, forgoing manners
and utensils."... "The juice gets all over his face, covers his eyes. He can't
see, but he keeps eating."

I noticed the author used the term "atavistic" in the thread to respond to unwanted criticism.

The script really that bad?

Well...you *did* open by indicating that it was "randomly" written.

Outside of paint-balloon-splatter art, and Gysin-style literary Cut-Ups, very little of value is created by random process.

Heck, even Jackson Pollock controlled the paint, while it was dribbling...

I like it. I'd love to turn it into a short film and while I was reading I saw plenty of ways that this script can be made more interesting and a little more bizarre... maybe we can talk and do something! anyway... im out for now, but ill be checking on this thread... see ya

It's not the script, I actually thought it was ok. The problem seems to be this feud that you and Alex have going on. I don't know if he's deliberately baiting you or you're just spoiling for a fight but you guys really need to keep it off the thread.

Good point. I used to be a big fan of Radiohead but fortunately grew out of it. It pisses me off how Thom Yorke 'composes' his lyrics: writing down snatches of phrases, mostly imagist, then cutting them up and randomly reordering them. To me it reeks (sic?) of 'half-baked' ideas - if you can't structure your lyrics then should you really be putting them into a song? Imagine if a documentary maker put all his footage into a 'random sequencing editor' that..... randomly sequenced the edit. Then, when by complete chance it 'worked', claimed credit for it.

Having said that, I suspect that by calling his screenplay "random" Stefan was doing what we all so often do, talking it down so as to pre-empt any major criticism (such as 'It seems as though very little thought went into this screenplay') rather than describing the actual writing process itself. Especially since it conforms, from beginning to end.

It's funny that people keep coming on here and complaining that the thread hasn't been locked yet. Now, I'm the first to agree that the little feud between Stefan and Alex was childish and stupid - and Stefan seemed to overreact without any provocation - but aside from that, there has been some interesting ideas exchanged.

Moreover I think it's interesting how touchy people get when you even type the word 'politics.' Sure I can understand no one wanting to get into political discussions, because it has nothing to do with filmmaking. BUT...... if someone puts up a screenplay for appraisal in the screenplay sub-forum, and the theme is clearly, in some way, political..... does that mean we can't discuss it? Is that screenplay forbidden?

Cinema, after all, does touch on all aspects of life.
