hi,
i have a 12 GB .mov file on a mac and need to move it to a pc running avid. tryed to copy it to my firestore FS100 but FAT32 wont take a file so big.also tryed a HDD USB NTFS but the mac can just read from it, not write. any sugestions?
thanks

i wouldnt´lay it on tape cause its a 720 30p quick time that is going to be edited on an avid pc dvcpro50 project that already exists on my client´s workstation and i don´t have a HD or Dvcpro50 deck just my hvx200 and firestore.
thanks anyway...

maybe with some sort of file compressor like RAR i could break the file in 6 2 GIG parts ant take it to the FAT 32 firestore fs100? have anybody tried something like that?
thanks

Simplest way would be to network the two machines. Otherwise format a drive on the PC and then bring it to the mac for layback.

thanks NoahK,
the two machines are away from each other , so networking, i think, is not a possibility. tried to take an external hard drive to the mac but it will not write to ntfs formated drives, just read from it. tried to put the file on my firestore fs100 but it is FAT32 formated and wont take files bigger than 2Gig.
thanks anyway

As long as the operating systems have fundamental differences, then likely we'll see the same hold true with the hard drive formating they use (or want to use). So just because Apple is on Intel processors don't expect going from Mac to Apple and back to "just work" anytime soon (even if Windows keeps ripping off ideas from OSX).

You could buy a third party application for the Windows machine to make it read an HFTS+ formatted drive. MacDrive was the only one I ever used and it did the job well enough. Its got lots of various options/features in the latest version, but I can't comment on those. Its quite inexpensive if I recall correctly. Anyway, just a thought.

Cheers.
