Just took delivery on a set of AN-PVS7Ds, yesterday.

Wow. I can see why the Army likes 'em.

Now I can *really* screw with the cats.
 
Damn, I never thought of screwing with my cats with night vision. I'm going to do that right now.
 
Screwing with cats doesn't work. They have built in night vision apparently. I stood in front of one wearing NVGs when it was completely dark and waved my arm around. It followed it with it's head. If anyone can sneak up on a cat, I'll be impressed.

(a) probably wasn't completely dark (light leakage from someplace) and

(b) cats have extraordinary hearing; they may have been zeroing in on your breathing, rustling of your clothing, or (if you're anything like me) barely-suppressed hysterical giggling...

As a side-note, I am now researching whether guinea pigs can see in the near-infrared, as a story point for our show. The things you get to do, in Hollywood...
