What is going on with YouTube - The LisaNova war

ok so I admit I'm not really into the whole YouTube community thing - I just use YouTube for entertainment and to post my own videos. but today I had some extra time on my hands and I stumbled upon this insane war going on between LisaNova, ChannelReviews and communitychannel (yes, the two names confuse me too).

As far as I can tell all three of these users are crazy popular. LisaNova conceived of this grand scheme where she posted thousands of messages on other people's videos over a period of a few days and drove them to her site. Then she created a video featuring a LOT of "famous" YouTube people including Perez Hilton and that guy with the enormous red afro where the publishers were kidnapped and forced to send messages to people on YouTube.

This action, which wasn't really spamming but a very tedious commenting bomb of sorts, did not go over well with ChannelReviews (a guy who makes extremely angry and offensive videos about other people while he wears glasses with chroma keyed lenses) who started a self titled war against spamming ("spamming" being LisaNova). Then this australian chick calling herself "communitychannel" (again, what's up with these names???) posted some videos where she said she supported ChannelReviews and hated LisaNova. LisaNova responded by making a mocking video about communitychannel which was trashed by ChannelReviews. Now I'm getting confused.

Anyway. This is turning into a massive war on YouTube. The commenting and cross posting is so extensive it's hard to miss.

All this makes me wonder what the hell I am doing. Is this what people really want? Talking heads that throw crap at each other?

Absolute crap. Waste of time. These people just want attention. Let em have it. Stupid bullshit if you ask me.
 
I just find it bizarre (or is it telling) that this type of stuff gets so popular. It's just like the rappers who keep putting out albums where all they do is diss other rappers and say they are weak. When I was a kid my parents always said "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all". Clearly I didn't listen but even I wouldn't lower myself to this kind of bull.

All that popularity crap baffles me. When people were talking about Paris Hilton and that **** a few weeks ago (months ago? whatever). I flat out told people that I don't give a **** and don't want to hear it... and don't get me started on tabloids and paparazzi...

Lisa Nova: She's talented but I wish she would stop entering contests in order to be "discovered." She hosted MadTV for crying out loud.


Youtube rigged this contest called Sketchies so that she would be one of the finalists. I thought I hated her for that but I've come to realize that finding a funny woman like Lisa is very rare. Call this a sexist thing to say, but John Belushi had the same belief. Lisa Nova is talented & she needs to get off the internet and into television or film. The internet forces you to be face to face with your worst critics.

my youngest sister is much funnier than lisa nova. she also looks like john belushi. maybe i could market her as the female belushi and get get a tv deal out of it.

Have you never watched The View, or the McLaughlin Report, or basically any other network "news" show which consists of, basically, talking heads throwing crap at each other... :thumbsup:
 
I smell a conspiracy! No, really... I think the three of them are in cahoots together, and playing a joke on the generally lobotomized public.
 
I use Vimeo mostly now. But I still do go on youtube, but I don't watch people talking into their cameras....
