Oktava Mics - Fake?

An interesting article I came across about 'fake' Oktava mics on the loose. What I found most interesting was the conclusion that the fakes may not sound much different from the originals afterall!

On the subject of Oktava though, they've come out with some nifty (although not inexpensive) new products:

I especially like this one for ambient sound recording (Ambisonic):

about $1500 MSRP though.

If you check the core-sound website you'll see a link to some software; you can basically get pretty much ANY flavor of audio out of these ambisonic mics:

but like Oleg wrote, you need to record to four channels.
