Marshall Monitor questions

I'm using the Red Rock 35mm adapter and looking for the best monitor to view content & do focus assisting, etc. What recommendation would any one give me in choosing the best monitor? I'm considering the Marshall V-R70P-HDA but it doesn't have "image flip" technology. Should I use a noga articulating arm and invert the monitor or consider a Nebtek.

Thanks for your help.

Go marshal, you will not regreat it. From what I've used it is the best bang for your buck. The colors are good, and teh resolution is great for pulling focus. Although I'd recommend buying it from Nebtech with the modification to use Panasonic batteries- that way you only hva eto carry around one type of batteries for your monitor and camera. The Marshall has a mount on every side of the monitor, so it is easy to put it on either the top or the bottom for use with your 35mm adapter.

I've got extra 1/4" mounts on my monitor so all I do is attach my noga to the top of my marshall and run it bottoms up.

We have been using the Marshall with a DVX and 35mm adapter... and love it. It does seem a hair orange with SD, but otherwise an excellent monitor. The Nebtek adapter is a huge plus as well. The panny battery seems to last just about as long as when it is used on a DVX (depending on how much you leave either one on of course).

I did have a problem with one of the inputs. I contacted Marshall about it... and WOW, great customer service. I mailed it out (they paid shipping) and had it back in 2 days.

Anyway, I'm sure you will love it.

i'll second the strong kudos on marshall's customer service. my monitor was in need of a chip-level fix and they turned it around in a matter of days - and updated it with masking for title safe and 4:3. can't say enough good things about them, or the monitor at the price point.

Put me in line for having great experiences with the Marshall. I've been using it for almost a year with my HVX without a single issue or problem. Great image and easy to use.

You can't go wrong with it.

I'm pretty happy about my Marshall too, but I'm having issues with it when I turn it upside down for 35mm work - my batteries fall off very easily. I have the Nebtek mod for using it with Panasonic/DVXUser 5400mha batteries.

I remember reading here somewehre that some people found the DVXuser batteries to have a slightly looser fit, so it might be the batteries and not the Nebtek. All of my Panny batteries fit in nice and snug when my Marshall is upside down.

I'll try testing that!

May I suggest man's second best friend... Velcro. It might help hold those batteries in place. Of course, man's best friend is duct tape. But not appropriate for this use.

for those of you with the Marshall, how are you getting the signal to the monitor, in other words are you going component from the camera to an adaptor of some sort?
what inputs are available for the marshall?
and lastly, what screen resolution is everyone getting?

thanks!

Is there any word on this being released? The focus assist in white rather than the red that panny uses sounds great...not to mention a cheaper price.

I talked to Nebtek this morning and they said the release is "very close" but would not give me an exact date because they are still tweaking things in their first production models.

*oooo* exciting

Have they given you an idea (firm or not) about the price? I'm guessing they'll offer the Panny battery attachment too.

I have one of the new Panny btlh80's on order - still no word about it being delivered... I wonder if Nebtec will beat Panny at their own game.
and I further wonder how PO'd my dealer would be if I weaseled out to get a Nebtec. *grin*
