Conundrum: Sun gun or Kino Flo Kamio ring light?

I've been driving myself insane trying to figure out what to do when it comes to on-camera lights for my DVX for the longest time. What to get... a sun gun, an LED light, some ghetto solution... it's pretty much impossible to figure out.

then today I realized something: when we need the on-camera light it's usually because we are doing fairly close stuff - makeup and detail shots etc. And for these purposes a sun gun doesn't really work. So now I'm wondering if I should get a Kamio ring light instead.

it's really frustrating and I'm incredibly indecisive as it is so I'd really like some input from other smart people.

For indoors, I'd go Kameo. I'd also use a big 'ol soft box as the key source close to the camera.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking. we normally use a standard three light kit with a big soft box as key, an umbrella as fill and sometimes a back light depending.
