On The Lot July 24th

This was probably my least favorite batch of movies... they all seemed so cheesy and campy, but I suppose they had to.

Andrews superhero film had the worst ET ripoff soundtrack. Haha.

What did you guys think?

I know you west coasters dont see it so I try not to give much away. If anything listen for the music in andrews movie. You'll laugh at that, if anything.

From the weeks I've seen, most of them are cheesy and not that good. But then again, you have to keep in mind that they have to make 2 minute movies and keep plugging out movies every week. But AGAIN, they have all those amazing resources at their fingertips.

I hope Zach wins. Fellow Vancourite and he makes great little films (that office one was great).

I stopped watching. Once Fox dropped the funding, and we're seeing old short films not done by the actors on that actor list on their homepage, shoot, forget that. I'm out.

I'm pretty much good as quit with this show as well. I tried blowing thru a few episodes I had backed up on my DVR, it was tough. I could really care less at this point.

Thank the TV gods for:
1. Entourage
2. Big Love
3. Mad Men

Other than that, this summer's programming has proven to be dismal.

All my shows are gone:

Arrested Development
Curb Your Enthusiasm (maybe still going?)
Extras
BBC Office
MacGyver

The best thing about this show are the Verizon commercials with the "Everyone wants to be a director" theme.

Also, when a guest host comes on and actually gives some sort of criticism.

I feel the plots of many short films on "The lot" are just crappy student film ideas with big production value due to the big resources they have.

One thing I do have to comment on, is some of the cinematography is pretty good. Those guys save the directors asses sometimes.

Jason is the only one that I look forward to seeing. Zack is good visually, but his stories lack, well, a story.

I liked Zach's this week. I'm all for focusing on story and he sure did receive enough criticism for lack thereof (and not really addressing this week's assignment), but his short sure was beautifully executed and a very cool "ride."

As mentioned in a previous thread, Jason and Will have become my favorites. I think Will is the best storyteller in the group and Jason has been able to turn around a shaky start to create some strong material (with last week's "Sweet" being his best).

And finally, someone has got to rehaul Arriana's wardrobe. She is so attractive, yet always wearing something on the bizarre side. just distracting.
