Tell me what you think so far...

ya, its just for show right now... i'll change it if people the whole thing could be used as my logo for now, until i get more money for something more professional

Yeah, sorry to say Zfarms - it's a bit too plain.
Doesn't exactly put your best foot forward (and please, no jokes about the handheld shot here).

I like the 'idea' of what you want to do... but that really just seems like a rough mockup of what it could be.

I would spend some time in Photoshop or Illustrator if you can - if you're not into designing your own logo/font, then at least look around for a font that you feel suits the image you're wanting to get across. Like David pointed out, Arial is a bit too common (for my taste anyhow).

www.dafont.com is a great site to check out for fonts, just keep an eye out to see which are free for use and which require licensing.

thanks for the input Luis. Like i said, it is a work in progress, and do plan on doing some more to it, the reason i posted it was for the idea of the field, with the name coming up

One thing I do like about it is the way the font color segues from black to white during the dissolve.

here are a couple of ideas i got through photoshop... still not finished, but i think you get the general idea

Definitely stay away from the second one... I'm so sick of the 'colored pencil' filter.

honestly the shot isn't very interesting to me. i would color correct to get a more surreal look. also, have you considered using a glidecam? running through the crops using the glidecam might look cool. another problem is that the clip doesn't go anywhere; the beginning is the same as the end. it would be better if you show something happen.

good luck.

I agree with Uga about the glidecam. I was going to say the same thing. Soaring through the crops with a glidecam would look very nice rather than walking. I don't know if it needs to go somewhere, but if you get a nice long glide and the text fading in, without any sound, and then slowly fade out it might look a lot better.

The text in the two samples of the text are so so. They work better, but try different fonts.

thanks for the input. i'm still working on the two still ones...

unfortunately i don't have a glidecam...

my original idea was to go through the crops (eventually i'll put a dolly track down, and go through that way (still need to make my dolly track) then pan up to a horizon, with the name coming up over the horizon...

Find someone who has an airplane and mount a cam to the front somehow... then do a low flyby on that field... that would kick ass!

The font is mildly horrifying.

Maybe you could turn the drawback of handheld into a virtue - lay in footstep-sounds of walking through brush.

...if you are going for a logo... its sorta not one, its just an uncommon font with a photo. I'm not trying to sound harsh. its just not very intresting to me. If you took the text and made it look like it was part of the scene, like walk thru the text, maybe it'd make it better, but I think stay away from video altogether if you are trying to make a production co. title.

for what ever it goes on to, it may confuse your audience of what they are watching.

I'm going through the logo creation process currently myself, so I understand what you're going through. I've just about got it nailed and can hopefully post it soon so you can see the direction I'm going.

I actually like the font that you're working with, but I have to say that it reminds me more of a turn of the century super elixer ad than something related to a farm or production.

I also agree with Nomadic that a photo with the name on it doesn't equal logo ... well, I guess it could, but it would have to be a very special photo. Think about it like this: Could you see that logo on a piece of letterhead? I know we're talking production companies which calls to mind more of a big screen environment, but the letterhead question really got me thinking in terms of a logo and not in terms of something cool I could put before my work ... which a logo is, but in a different way. It's kind of like doublespeak so I hope you understand what I mean and not what I say. :)

Anyway, those are suggestions that helped me. Maybe you'll find some value there too.

thanks for the input. krestofre i'll start thinking like that. can't wait to see what yours looks like...

i'm just trying to get around budget constraints. like i said, i'd love to have an animated logo where it goes through the corn field (or any field) then pan up with the ZFarms Productions coming over the horizon... but until i get more mulah, gotta stick with something simple
