ok here is my first question, no hold up first my rig
dual cores 3gb of ram vegas 7, nvidia quadro fx 1500 and two
dell 1905fp monitors, now here is my first issue
I want to let go of one monitor so I can buy this one right here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9094&CMP=EMC-IGNEFL071907&ATT=N82E16824009094

the specs say the resulution on it is 1680 x 1050

now my first question is this, will it be a problem to have one dell monitor with a different resolution and then use this one as a HD monitor for previewing on vegas? does it matter that both are not alike at all?

now my second question is 1680 x 1050 really 1080 resolution, I mean will it work for decent acurate watching my 720 and 1080 footage from the hvx?

thanks guys

1) Having different resolutions is not a problem.

2) No, it's not 1080; it's 1680x1050. Full-res 720 is no problem, but you can't get full-res 1080.

so to be full 1080 it will have to be what?

also does anyone have a cheap but effective alternative to a broadcast monitor??

thanks

It'll have to be at least 1920x1080.

As for the monitor, you can have cheap, or you can have effective. Take your pick. :)

(EDIT: You can also have used. But probably still not "cheap.")

You might consider this...I use a FX560 with the breakout box that does component out to my LCD HDTV monitor at 1920x1080P. Then I have another Nvidia 7800GS card that runs my two desktop monitors. And still have room to add one more monitor later on. Now with your fx1500 you should be able to hook up via DVI out vs component. Then get another nvidia video card to run your existing monitors. Also you should invest in a good HDTV so you can see any focus or framing problems.

for 1080p LCDs consider the Gateway 24" which has 1:1 modes and 1920 x 1200 pixels... it is said to be best by far and I can assure you you don't want the Dell 24"... it runs $600...

anything pro will be in the thousands

note: if you happen to have a new gaming 8800 series Nvidia card keep in mind it will not run along side a 7 series card in XP, only in Vista

Good news - price for the Gateway has dropped to $579.
