Hey guys, you can see these actors withing the first ten images (or so) in the 'professional' area. I'd love some critique and thoughts. Keep in mind I've been shooting for one month now :)

Thanks for the advice and thoughts so far, it's helped a lot.

sorry alvarez I mistyped - I couldnt see anything at all - in the pro or personal categories just blank space.

edit - ok i forgot I viewed on a computer that doesnt like flash the first time - those are great! I really like the one of the guy holding the small camera and the guy in the red sweater sitting on the stairs. Everything looks quite professional! Sorry if my original post was taken the wrong way - I totally cant type sometimes. Cool interface too - I like the music and the way the pics scroll at the bottom.

Aha! Yes, your first message came off pretty lame, but I get it now :) Thanks man, I appreciate the words. Were there any that you would reconsider keeping up there?

Heck I really liked em all - there were a few that just looked like a traditional portrait - straight on and framed shoulders upo - well done, but a bit boring maybe. The more candid ones really caught my eye though. I'm back on the desktop though that has flash issues and cant tell you which exactly. Why are you wanting to get rid of them? I didnt think any were bad by any means - sure wouldnt be embarassed to claim them as my work.

Just trying to simplify. I'm wondering if its overload to have so many images. Actors have short attention spans :)

I need to keep the simple headshot ones up there for those that want that boring look I think. I tried to place a variety of looks/styles. I guess its working, I just want to streamline if I can so if there's some that just plain suck, i want to dump them.

true I forgot you are selling head shots - then definitely keep those "boring" ones :) They're great headshots. Although looking at them from a casting director pov (which I'm not, but I can pretend) I'd pick the more interesting ones that have some personality to them. They just stick with me better. I dont think any suck though. Maybe as you build more and more of a portfolio only display those that are super outstanding on your website. With how fast the flash interface is I didnt feel bogged down by how many ever you have, so I say just leave it alone.

some pretty good actor headshots, except if the ones where they are holding objects are concidered as acting headshots. What i liked about yours is that they hold true to what headshots are supposed to be like. not modeling shots, nor glamor shots, but faces for casting agencies and directors to see what they really look like. good job!

Thanks! The reason some are not 'standard is I chose to play around a little and have some fun too. Another reason I just called that area 'professional' and not 'headshots'. If it was just headshots it would be the more industry standard shots, but that's not what I'm about so I went with the flexible approach. Letting the client decide what he/she wants.

Thanks for the advice though, I need to be careful with props/toys and going too whacky. I'll keep that in mind and push that stuff over to the 'personal' side.

just watch the over exposure. Digital SLR's look nast when overexposed. unless its one of the REAL expensive full frame ones.

Yeah, I've had those problems but I'm still learning. I think my images are pretty warm but nothing too hot yet or over exposed. I shot another client last night and put her up. Give her a whirl when you get a sec.

I have a new logo and design too, let me know if you guys dig it or not: www.ricardezphoto.com

Thanks again guys.

Got a few new (paying) clients up. I know, highway robbery, i should be shot, but I'm trying and they seem to be happy. I posted the latest actors in the top ten images: www.ricardezphoto.com

Any advice to improve appreciated. Keep in mind I hit my 5th week of photography today, still a newb :)
