SGfollow focus - adjustable lens gear - 32 pitch

I personally like the redrock lens gears because i borrow/rent a lot of lenses and they are easy to take on/off rather quickly and don't damage the lens. And most still lenses will not need 360° rotation.

This and dan's gears both look very solid though.
I have one of Dan's, It's a little to big for me but it doesn't have that screw like the Redrock that limits the lense from getting a full focus when I use my 55mm 1.4 macro. The lenses might not need a 360 but is good to have a countinious lens gear.

How much is the SGFollow Focus complete setup going to cost US? Didn't see it mentioned and we're in the month of July now. =D

Me needs a follow-focus stat.

I have one of Dan's gears. I can't stand it. I lose the little plastic parts--scratch that, I lost them all a long time ago--that keep the gear from sliding around all the time, and the screws damage the lens. (Yes maybe not initially but after time, and taking it on and off, they do.) If you tighten the screws too much (easy to do) you can dent the focus ring of the lens and make it harder to turn, something that is impossible to repair.

I have RR gears and love them. Easy to put on/take off, it's just one thumbscrew that stays with the unit. I would recommend Dan (or Wayne's, since they are the same design) only if you have lenses that require more than 270 degree turns to reach the entire focus range, i.e. Arri and Cooke lenses like Wayne mentioned.

With such competitive pricing though, I may buy enough of these to keep them on my lenses permanently.

Aiming for £250 ex VAT (approx. $500 USD). This includes 3 lens gears (the other design).

Glad you mentioned, the main follow focus will come with another gear design, but the type in the picture on the first post will be availiable, and most useful for lenses with 360+ focus ring travel.

Wayne, it looks great, but I'm a bit surprised to see the similarity to Dan Diaconu's aluminum follow focus gears. ?

Hi Dennis,

I actually got the idea after seeing the Aquatica Zoom Gear here:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...s&Q=&sku=105145&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

I then added more set screws to make it more solid.

I'm sold! When will they be ready?

I have just changed the design of the rods clamp at the last minute, to make the system 110% solid. So please give me 1 more month guys!!!!

Our new blue lens gears are looking very good and much easier to install!

Hi Wayne,

I've got a full set of Carl Zeiss Nikon ZF's (25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and the 100mm) and was wondering if you could manufacture custom gears for them?

I've just dropped over $300 (US) on the the Zacuto Zip Gears but would be willing to sell them on and buy a set from you ASAP.

Let me know deliverables etc

Hi,

To be frank, the cost of custom gears are only feasible in large quantities, hense the reason for a single design adjustable gears. What was wrong with your zacuto Zip Gears?

They're alright but the 25mm has more that 360 degree rotation end to end and the zip doesn't work on it.

However, I believe my circumferences for the lenses are as follows:

25mm = 65mm
35mm = 65mm
50mm = 65mm
85mm = 77mm
100mm = 76mm

So by my reckoning your gears should fit, Yes?

Any chance of a sample before I commit to buying 5 of the buggers, just to make sure that they work with my lenses. I'll even take some High Res snaps of the lens gear on the lenses for you FOC for your website.

Hey Wayne,
Would the FF work with this setup: Canon A1/Letus Flip Enhanced/Nikon Lenses/Hyson Rails? I'm currently in the market for a FF and love your products (well, the examples I've seen). Thanks so much.
~John

Luzer,

Im not too sure, it was taken by one of my customers...

John, can you link me to more info on the Hyson Rails?
