HVX200 waterhousing

Greetings all,

Just thought I'd post out of community interest that I'm having a custom waterhousing built by Jim Bailey of Sea Research. Should be completed here on Sunday and I got to customize the housing and decide what controls I wanted. The guys a total pro and been building housings for the biggest water photographers (still, film and video) for over 40 years. He's truly the man.. but at 80 he's going to be only using his knowledge and buidling housings for a few more years. You can check out his website at www.waterhousings.com He's a cool guy and gives great deals for sure. You can ask him to build one for watersports like I'm doing or for diving.. whatever ya want. If you are interested in having an HVX housing built let me know or tell Jim because it's easiest for him to do it when he has a cam to fit it too.. and he has mine right now. Otherwise he requests the cam in his prescense for a week to make sure the controls all work right. It's all manual with no extronics to get messed up. Just thought I'd let you know since a lot of people were intereste in a housing and on't have the 3k for an Equinox or 6k for the Gates...

Hello I was looking at the post and went to check the web of Jim Bailey of Sea Research but could you please post his email. Im looking at his web page and i can´t figure how to send an email to him with my computer through his web system. I can´t even see the adress he has. Im really interested in seeing what kind of housing he could build for Aan hvx surf housing.

Add me to the list of interested parties for an HVX200 housing. The Gates is my first choice, though I wasn't familiar with Jim's work before seeing this thread.

Piero,
When you first click on the link in Justyn's post above... you'll see "email me directly" highlighted in blue. Click on that and it will open up in your Outlook email program.

I hope that helps.
Jim

thanks foro the tip but the outlook thing is basically my problem i need his real mail to send through my hotmail. You know ?

Thanks everyone... I will be picking up the housing on Sunday and I have some shoot next week with it already.. but when I'm done, I'll go ahead and I'll post pictures of the housing.. pictures in action.. and some footie.

Jim is a true craftsman. Builds them all by hand and he's almost 80. He's still charging 1980's prices and is so cool. He'll build your housing custom and he's not a major corporate type.. and he's radical enough to do anything you want. Housings for monitors or whatever. He's also CHEAP. Less than half the closest competitor...

Talk to you all soon,

Also... To note...

Jim will build one for above water surfing/wakeboarding whatever that's really small and lightweight and easy to hold. It's still rated to go down to 30' though.

If you want one for underwater then he'll build it like a tank and he's built them to go down 600 feet or more.

BTW.. Jim built housings for the late great Warren Bolster for over 25 years. He's also only going to be building them for a few more years so now is the time my dvx friends.

Hey guys.. Got the housing on Monday. Shot a little test yesterday with the kids in a pool and going to be doing more soon. I'll take some pics of the housing today, but here's the video. It's a large file so please download instead of streaming.. I absolutely love this thing. So AWESOME.. and so solidly built that after two days of water shooting I don't have anymore reservations about anything with it.

Thanks and enjoy. It's nothing serious. just me messing with the kids and we call this Daddy Shark when we are in the pool.

Very cool -- well worth the download, thanks!!!

Next time you should rotate the camera so we can see your face too (unless you think that would cause the vessel to fail), ha ha.

Seriously though . . . can you post a still of the unit when you get a chance?

Thanks!

Very surreal footage.

Seems like a very stable rig. I'm anxious to see pics of the housing, too.

Thanks for the footy.
