How to get this realism?

Wait, are you saying that really didn't happen? Thats the sole reason i bought a truck. SON OF A *****

Sorry for you :)

Well i will never think it is real since i don't think anyone that close would've survived.

Thanks for telling me it was a commercial! :)

What do you mean with multiple shots? Did they have different shots for different parts of the commercial or did they film same sequence several times?

AE could do that. Apart from the meteor impact, it looks like most of the rest of it was all real elements. Some of the smoke may have been extra.

You'll notice when the guy falls down the camera jerks, and goes blank for just a frame? and during that time there is an effect that makes "triples" out of everything. Then the guy gets back up and the truck comes out.

I'll bet that is two shots carefully put together.

?ouch

i don't even want to know.
we're shooting now,
and thinking about effects later,
of course we're planning out,
but the hours spent frame by frame are
sort of painful to think about!

What's real about it? A meteor that size would have vaporized the truck, as well as the guys holding the camera. :)

but it def looks like two shots, the second being largely real stuff, as Matt said. the only really obvious efx is the meteor and the very beginning of the impact. Then, instantly, the camera jump-cuts to a zoomed in shot. Even before the guy falls down.

There are several of these commercials. There's one where the loc-ness monsters comes out and one with a dinosaur too.
