Sorry if the answer is obvious, but could you elaborate as to why?
Footage looks dark on HD TV

first, simply because it looks closer to what i finally get on the tv.
and i also want to use gamma 2.2 because else many things (screengrabs, videos) look wrong in the internet.
left image - gamma 1.8 with fcp set to accurate, right image - gamma 2.2 with fcp set to approximate
