I'm sorry, but I just can't tell you how disgusted I am by the charges brought against Michael Vick in regards to illegal dogfighting. For those of you who don't know, there is an indictment against Vick for funding, sponsoring, organizing, and participating in a large illegal dogfighting operation. One of the charges is that Vick killed injured or losing dogs by wetting them down and electrocuting them.

The fact that he has not been formally suspended yet disgusts me, and until he is I'm boycotting all of his sponsors and the NFL. I encourage you to join me. Enough is enough.

The fact that he'll probably get away with a slap on the wrist makes me even angrier. I know it's innocent until proven guilty, but this is a pretty clear cut case.

Those poor dogs. Animal abuse is so unnerving to me.

The science experiments that led to the two-legged horse still give me nightmares.

Yes, Michael Vick deserves jail time for his actions/involvement. NCAA football is better anyway.

i don't think he should be suspended yet. if the charges are indeed true, then yes he'll be suspened and likely sent to prison. i can definitely see why you're angry, but i don't think the nfl is at fault.

The allegations that he personally killed more than just several dogs sealed it for me.

There is a special place in hell for people who torture/abuse/maim dogs.

And if this were an alternate universe i would help send them there.

They're true. Even if a jury finds him not guilty, which I'm sure the NFL is crossing their fingers for, he should be suspended.

But, unfortunately in the case of idiots like Vick, there is a lot of money for a lot of people involved. Like the NFL. Vick's jersey is their #1 seller. He sells tickets. The last thing they want to do is cut him loose.

I'm in no way making a blanket statement that all pro athletes are spoiled brats, etc etc etc. But there is a lot of them, and I'm tired of seeing them get away with murder. Vick should not be a glorified, over paid persona any longer.

True, boycotting the NFL is a little extreme, but I don't want to fill the coffers of an organization that's been filling the coffers of a man whose been financing animal abuse and torture. An organization that is still doing that right now. You get me?

They're true.

we know that dog fighting occurred at a home that he owned. the extent of his participation and knowledge of these events is still in question. if he did participate, then lock him in the slammer. i'm going to try to keep an open mind about the situation until i know more facts.

Like Jon Stewart said on the daily show last night "I would love to cover him with liver and have a dog chase him and see how fast and elusive he really is."

I am sure that the NFL will suspend him if and in fact he is convicted. To me, this just makes me sick to my stomach. How anyone can call this a "sport" and not only show blantant disregard for these animals, but to go so far as murder "unachievers" is in my mind no different than if the same crimes were commited against another human.

Are you a lawyer?

Just kidding. But seriously, are you a lawyer?

Guilt until proven guilty?

I can't stand the guy but there's a reason the justice system works like it does (flawed at times but it's the best we've got).

The problem is almost every single person on this forum gets their information via the over sensationalized media so we only know a fraction of the details..... how many people in America wanted the Duke Lacrosse team castrated at one point? They lost an entire season and the coach lost his job because of false accusations and a politically motivated prosecutor prodded along by a "we want their heads" public.

Just my opinion anyway...

Its a good point DDP.
Though in this case it does seem to be a bit different in that there was hard evidence found at his home, versus a 'he said she said' scenario of accussations.
Though I suppose his knowledge of such things is just an allegation at this point.

In the end, you're right - there is a reason the justice system is set up as it is.
We shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves.

Edited to add:
My comment above was only meant as a really bad joke.
Just comparing one 'sport' to another.
Clearly in bad taste.

DDP, I agree.

But, I work very closely with police in my line of work. The difference between this and the DUKE case is pretty big. All I can say is, reliable sources are just about 100% sure he is guilty.

Actually, I know that myself and many others could smell BS, long before they were aquitted. Now, castrating the prosecuter and doing equally nasty things to the accusser, I'm all for that. Hell, throw that Judge in who was suing over a pair of pants. Make examples of those slandering bastards.

I will say though, nobody should rush to conclusions...Innocent until proven guilty. This isn't a witch hunt.
