What's the big deal with Color?

This might sound like a stupid question, but...

I recently opened up Color just to take a quick look and fool around with it. I understand that it's a major color correction application, but what exactly makes it such a great addition to Final Cut Studio?

In other words, what useful things can I achieve in Color that I can't with the color correction tools in Final Cut Pro?

I'm probably the least-qualified person to answer this question, I think the 'big deal' is before Apple bought the company that was a stand-alone application in the $10K range.

FAR MORE control over the colors. The 3-way CC is a toy in comparison. Ability to isolate areas and lighten or darken...what is called POWER WINDOWS.

YOu gotta watch the Color demo to really see what it can do. And even then, that is just a surface look.

How does FCP's Color compare with Synthetic Aperture's Color Finesse for After Effects?

Has anyone used both programs?

Yup secondaries alone make Color worth the price(included free). Say for example you're doing a car commercial and you want the car to look perfect- you can track and correct each of the tires seperately, the windshield, the hood, the sky, etc. Try doing that with one 3 way color corrector in FCP...
