Hey guys I've been searching everywhere through these forums, but I cant find a single post of sombody describing what the differences with between reflectors, such as small versus larger ones and especially the differences between white, silver gold and black. can anyone help. Pictures would be nice. if anyone can thanks.

There are also half-gold reflectors which I find pretty useful. Silver alone is very neutral/cold, gold is nice for warm skin tones, but it also colors your talent's teeth brown... I once ran into this problem and had a lot of trouble color correcting the teeth to a healthy white without turning the background blue.
With the half-gold you're in between gold and silver.

The main difference between silver and white is that silver reflects a lot more light, but it is very harsh. White reflects very diffused, soft light, but the light output is much lower.

Black is used to block light, it's actually a flag, not a reflector.

The larger your reflector, the bigger your light source (more output and softer)

Mine was a 42" Amvona and got it on Ebay a long time ago. It's held up very well. I'm sure most of these are pretty much the same though. They all come from China basically as far as I know.

Foam core is the best bet because its bendable and cheap. Just dont get really thin stuff with colors on one side or else the light goes right through. It should be a semi shiny surfaced type.
