Best format to move between Vegas and Premiere?

Hi,

I've been doing a lot of slow motion tests on vegas that are coming up very good, but I've been using premiere for more thant 7 years and I really enjoy editing on it. So I was wondering what would be the best format/compression to export my slow motion sequence from vegas so that I can edit it on premiere.

P.S - I've posted this on the premiere and vegas subforums because I thought this is relevant for both. If the mods feel this is not the case and prefer to delete one of the posts, my apologies

Well it should be uncompressed avi maybe. but when you shoot your films your camera maybe compresses it i think. choose microsoft dv avi compression.

Ok, I just downloaded Huffyuv, which I've been told would be the second best option...I exported a 1 minute file and ended up with a black video. I imported it to vegas and premiere and it makes them crash. I tried to play this file with different media players and it makes them crash. Am I missing something here? Is there a speciall way to export a Huffyuv AVI file?

You should always use an uncompressed format to move between software otherwise you are going to compress multiple times and your footage will suffer accordingly.

Even your final edit should be exported uncompressed (in chapters if it is long) and then only compress once to your final delivery format(s). Compressing at each stage degrades your footage over and over.

Once you select AVI here are the available video formats:

I exported 1 minute in uncompressed and it came up to 7gb...right now I have 3 200gb HD with loads of data that (at the moment) cannot be touched. Which would be the second best option after uncompressed?

Raylight AVI's work smoothly with both Vegas and Premiere, and the DVCPROHD recompression losses are very low, below 1% typically per generation. If you use the 1440 x 1080 frame size it's very good for HDV.
