ok, so i have been shooting, and capturing 24pA for while now....23.98 on my timeline, all is good.......recently when i capture, and i add the clips in my timeline, the clips are 29.97 and i need to render, so i recapture, and it turns out fine. Today, i captured again, and i got 23.98, perfec! i unplug my camera, go film, and come back about 20 minute later, capture, and the new footage is now 29.97, is this an error/bug in final cut? sometimes its 29.97, and sometimes its 23.98

The DVX puts "flags" on the tape to tell FCP what is going on. And it sounds like the flags are not getting through some of the time. Perhaps try a new firewire cable or maybe your camera firewire port is going. Sometimes they do that.

I had a DVX100 that had a firewire port go bad...but it just stopped getting a connection, it didn't do what you describe. I would suggest using another camera/deck
to isolate the problem to see if it is the camera's FW port.
