I am a student of just get out there and shoot something. When I first join DVXuser I was told to just do it. I just want to say before a year ago I didn't know my but from a hole in the ground when it came to shooting dv and editing on final cut so what I'm hoping to hear is constructive criticism on lighting, and other technics that will help me get better quality footage from for my projects.

Thanks in advance.

Warning! Artist's lyrics in video contain profanity. Please do not view this material in the presence of a minor.

i don't know really have any suggestions as far as the cinematography goes, but i do have something to say about music videos in general. the best and most memorable videos tell a story. amateur videos usually lack this. if it's a rap video there are shots of guys on the street or in a nice car. if it's a rock band, there are shots of them playing in a darkened room with weird lighting.

if you want to separate yourself from others, you need to come up with a concept that matches the lyrics. think of making a short film with the song. it's going to take more effort to do, but it will stick out in people's minds more than a generic video.

I agree with that, and appreciate you taking the time ugafan.

I am hoping to get enough good suggestions like yours and put them in effect on my next project.

Thanks again:0)

his flow is pretty good, but the guy saying "gorgeous" just kills his whole flow. He dont need a hypeman, hes actually talented. The toughest thing to do when making a lowbudget hip hop video is trying to convince the artist to try somethign unproven. they know what "works". Girls, cars, and your boys around you. you gotta try and break that convention.

Amen!!!

Amen!!!

you gotta try and break that convention.

I hear that. I have been trying to play it safe. My first video I tryed just doing it my way which I really liked. It was a dark song so I went with that. Everyone wanted me to add girls and car, but I said no. I'm glad I didn't because now everyone who comments on it tells me its different, and that it conveys the emotion of the song.

My first video is titled "DRUG DEALER" http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2029576847 and its not a glam video about the the life style its actually show the depressing aspect of it. I like it because it came out exactly the way I expected it to.

This video however is to me the playing it too safe project. I actually took the advice of a DVXuser on this one too literally :)

I'm a work in progress.

Thanks TimurCivan for the comment.
