Clarity Lacks From Camera to Vegas

Hello,

I shoot my movies on a 3CCD Panasonic that i picked up last year. The videops on the camera look fine. But when i i transfer the video from the camera to the PC(Vegas) it gets darker(If shooting at night) and the video qaulity drops. Just enough to see some fuzziness.

I transfer via firewire - i was told that would help, it did alittle but not all the way. Is there something im not setting on the Vegas side? Or does my camera just blow? Which i don't think is the case since the video apears clear on that device.

any help would be appriciated.

thanks,
rich

Have you calibrated the LCD screen on your camera to make sure you're seeing things correctly in camera?

it just has the factory defaults set..but why would it show something else than what it transfers t the PC?

Because the computer screen isn't the same as an LCD or a TV screen. It's normal for things to appear darker on the computer screen. Also, the LCD is lower resolution, so things may appear sharper on it than they actually are.

And the viewfinder on the camera is set brighter (etc) so you can see what the heck you're filming on that teeny tiny screen.

Thank you, that explains the brightness issue - makes sense...but what about the clarity? Is there anything i'm missing like setting or whatnot that i should do before i transfer from the camera to the PC?

That may be simply what your footage looks like. How does it look on a TV?

I never tested it...the footage is gone now....ill have to check another time...i just remember it looking good on the camera though,.
