Super low budget jib, Jiblit?

So here they are, i hope it all makes sense from the explanations above...

I saw this guy, on this site who used a camcrane just tied onto a ladder. Wonder if we can do the same here...Any ideas/suggestions ? Just trying to work it without the tripod head..
 
I was thinking of using a bigass castor wheel and flipping it upside down and putting the axle bolt through the arm. somehow bolting it onto a tripod. i've seen some that work like that and it looks bretty good.
 
New Update!!! Replaced the ghetto bolt through the back end with a cheap ass bicycle front hub. The tilt is now super smooth, maybe even a little too smooth (scratches head). I now have 2 kg's of weights on the back, but only a tiny GS something 3ccd on the front at the moment.
Work has started on the Jiblit mkII with 2axis head. Pics to follow when the cybershot comes home with the girlfriend.

Can we get more pics/details of your new change, the C.A.B.F.H. installed on the back? Smooth is good, baby.. like "BUDDAaaa"

it's exactly the same theory as the front end, just a regular bicycle front hub. go into a bike shop and ask for the absolute cheapest bicycle front hub ever and thats what i used, it cost me R15.00 which is about $2.00 zip tied on with exactly the same method, and the pulley just sits right on the axle, and the handle is bolted on ontop of that. i put a 10mm threaded bar a little further forward to put the weights on so they didn't interfere with the tilt mechanism.

the girlfriend is coming home tonight so pics should be up tomorrow...
 
I've been thinking of only using only bicycle parts for all the moving bits on the mkII version. the L shaped bit for the 2 axis head is welded together, looks hot like some sort of wierd pipe. I love bicycle stuff!!!
 
I thinkthats one of the 4 billion sites i looked at when i was trying to get a mental picture of what i wanted... i wish mine was shiny and black...

The First 2 are the new back end of the jiblit, cheap ass bicycle front hub!!!

and the last 2 are the L part of the new 2 axis version that is under construction.
 
I love the bike parts aspect.. well made, manufactured hubs.. smooth as silk!

How do you get the spindle that comes out of the "cheap ass hub" to stick far enough out to mount anything to it? It looks like it goes all the way through the pully, then the handle (on the back end of the jib). The axle isn't normally that long, is it?

The axle from the hub, i loosened it one side so the cone nuts were right at the end, then tightened the other side down again so the axle was really offset. this wont work with a sealed bearing hub.

The L bracket is part of the head, it will hang from the part with the shiny pole sticking through and the aluminium plate from the mk1 will join onto another bit sticking through where you can see the other bearings. this will all Hang from a levelled system on the end of the crane arm. getting there slowly.

Luckily we have some warraty frames at my day job for me to hack up!
