G4, brought from ebay, for $220 dollars

I brougt a 80 gig g4 from ebay, the ad never said that it had any software or any type of programs on it. so i knew that!

never brought an emty mac before. so this is new to me.

when i turn the mac on, the monitor lights up witha small smiley face witha qustion mark beside it.

my question is how do i get a program & sofware on this new used g4?

I dont no were to start.

Buy the OS of your choice, and install it. If you hunt for them, you can even find older Mac OS's for sale.

i have a g5 that camewith the osx, i thinkd it has an old os 9 on it as well can i try that?

Sure, if that will work with the programs you want to use. I recently bought an old G3 Blueberry iMac (Sentimental reasons, I learned graphics on it), which had OSX on it, as well as 8 and 9. Long story short, OS8 wouldn't work with my 3D program, and now I'm stuck in OS9 and password blocked. As soon as I get the extra cash to play with it, I found OSX on ebay for like $40.

I don't know how good a deal it was- I found these to be very troublesome, and really underpowered for some of todays apps. But, like I said, it was just sentimental reasons I guess. Best of luck with your new addition though.
