Am I stuck if I shoot Anamorphic...?

I'm shooting Anamophic+letterbox, I know once I import the video into vegas I have to click and change each clip individually to the correct aspect ratio.

I shot a few scenes where there's stuff on the corner of the left and right side of the video I would like to take off. My question is, if I crop the clip to eliminate the corner edges will I loose the true Aspect Ratio I originally started with?

In other words, will my video still be widescreen eventhough I tampered with it to get rid of the neccesary image from the left and right side of the video...

I plan on doing some test to see, just wanted to get some advice, thanks.

Testing is your best bet, since there are a couple way you can do it.

But the question is: why are you shooting ana+letterbox? You can add the extra cropping in Vegas with no more quality loss then in-cam, and you won't have to correct every clip, AND you can re-adjust your framing.

As long as the image fills the preview satisfactorily in a Widescreen project, you have no worries. What you can't go by, though, is how it looks in a 4:3 project.

Because I wanted to get the true 2.31.1 aspect ratio, and I didn't want to mess around with it in Vegas(6) since I didn't know what I was doing.

But I guest testing is my best bet.

Ok. I see what you mean. Luckily it's the side that I have to crop, say if I had to crop top and bottom, then my original aspect ratio would be screwed... or does the same apply... long as the image fills the preview in a widescreen project I'm good?

I'm a little less worry now, I thought I was stuck with those images on the side...

After a some test, it seems like if I crop the project I lose the true aspect ratio I shot it in which was 2.35.1. As david said, as I was using the crop tool it didn't fill the preview.

Am I basically stuck, do you guys have any ideas how I can eliminate the object from the side of the video and still keep my original aspect ratio? Here's 2 pictures of the original footage and the crop footage. Look to the bottom right corner of the first pic you'll see the object. And the second pic I croped it out.

It didn't work David, if you notice the new pic. My image is not the original aspect ratio of 2.35.1 I shot it in, I'm losing a couple of inches from the top and bottom of the clip.
