New carbon fibre rails systems from Cinevate

We've finally got all the bits and pieces in for our latest carbon fibre rails systems to support the Brevis35, upcoming flip module and follow focus. The rails systems are available in 30cm, 45cm and 60cm lengths. The carbon is made to our specifications with a very heavy wall, and is likely the sturdiest 15mm available anywhere.

These rails are versatile enough to provide support for virtually every setup out there, featuring shimless height adjustment. Small cams like the HV20 can be mounted inverted with the addition of a short riser tube.

A quick pic of the XH-A1 on the 30cm versions: (rig exactly as shown with XH-A1, Brevis35 HD, Canon FD 50mm f1.4 lens, Mattebox with one 4x4 glass filter loaded = 10lbs, 1 oz.)

The letus should work on there just fine. Our Brevis-to-rails support will support it, but the top clamp won't clamp down snugly as it would for the Brevis. You would address that by lining our clamp with silicone foam or similar to both take up the space, and add some vibration dampening too.

And would the follow focus work okay too? I'm just trying to eliminate that small bit of shake that I get when focussing the Nikon lenses at the end of the Letus. It's not that noticeable but if I notice it, I know others will eventually. And I'd like to use 100mm lenses in the future. Thanks a million.

hi dennis, I was interested in the rail block you sell. I see that you only have the 15.8mm stainless steel on your catalog. are you going to provide the 15mm version for the carbon fiber rods?
Thanks,
luis

Dennis I just ordered the Brevis cant wait to use it. just wondering if I got the largest rails will they be a problem when I use shorter prime lenses, or can they just be pushed back? If so what problems might arise? I would like to use this config with my DVX on both a MultiRig and a StediCam Flyer. Any thoughts?

That rails block was an oversight...we'll snap a pic or two and update the catalog asap.

The rails can be slid backwards through the base plate...so the longer rails will be usefull for our upcoming shoulder mount, as well as the 12V rails mounted power supply. We're expecting shoulder mount users will want to mount the 12 volt power supply behind them on the rails for counter-balance.

Any of the shoulder pads/mounts for 15mm rails out there will work just fine too.

I was just wanting to make sure that the rails AND follow focus would work okay with the LETUS/A1 combo. Do you know if people have ordered your products for this combination? Thanks so much. (I'm going to purchase today if it will be compatible).

If the cinevante equipment will fit the Canon A1 and Letus Flip Enhanced, then I will purchase, but I'd need to know if it will fit. I can purchase ASAP, but I don't want to buy something that wont' fit or work properly with my setup. Thanks.

John, it should work just fine as both our base plate and Brevis-to rails support are height adjustable. The rails can be configured in about 5 different ways. I'm not aware of any of our users currently using the Letus, but if our rails don't work, we'd be happy to take them back. The rails are modular so if demand exists, we could CNC specific clamps for the Letus. As long as your ff unit is designed for the standard 15mm rails at 60mm spacing, it will work fine too.
