I was walking through Bestbuy and i saw a wall of small LCD HD screens. Checked em out, and one 2 stood out.

1 was the Insignia 19"

The other was the Magnavox:

I went with the Insignia. It looks ok for 350$. The HVX footage looks decent, resonable sharp. The "lcd" noise isnt as severe as most panels.

I am pleased. DVD's look awsome, though, which is rare on a LCD monitor. this one in particular has great color reprduction, unlike most LCD monitors. None of that plasticy over sharpened, flat look.

It looks more like my laptop monitor, and less like a crappy TV.

Enjoy guys.

how is it working for you?

how is it working for you?

How is the Insignia LCD wrorking for you so far?

We are looking into inexpsensive field monitors that we will mainly use for focus checks but to have good color reproduction and sharpness is a plus.

IS this monitor good for judging sharpness, focus and color accurately when hooked up to the HVX?

Are you using a 35mm adapter with your set up while using this monitor?

I am trying to find other options for field monitors but not much out there that are inexpensive and relatively decent.

Hi Timur:

Nice find! Having a true HD field monitor for anywhere between $3,500.00 and $9,000.00 just isn't practical for those of us shooting with $5,000.00 cameras like the HVX. Nice to know that there are practical, if less accurate solutions.

I have been using a couple of discontinued Sony 17" 550 LCD monitors for a year now with the HVX, they are pretty decent too but cost more than this set.

its not accurate though. it shows darker than the HVX actaully is. its mainly for framing and focus, and for "clients" to view.
