best site to buy audio equipment?

Looking for a woman
i need the baby ball gag, kssm shockmount, and gitzo pole. where is the best place to buy these items?

I'm a big fan of Trew Audio, but they don't have the gitzo pole. Location Sound has always been good to me as well... again, they probably don't have the gitzo pole though.

Most likely you'll have to get the pole from B&H or Adorama.

You might want to check EVSonline... they may have everything in one stop... which will save you on shipping issues.

Unless there is a big price difference between on line and a local store like Trew, Gotham, Coffey, etc. I would always go through the local vendor. In most cases, if they do not stock an item, they can order it. I say this because, aside from personal service and good reputations, you create relationships with experienced and knowledgeable people whom you can ask questions of and are willing to help you. Its worth spending $10 more to be able to call someone and troubleshoot a situation when you are stuck

Here's the way I look at it:

B&H is great for on-line research - they list everything.

Then, once I decide what I want, I call Trew. I have also ordered from Coffey, but I use Trew because then I don't pay sales tax. With Coffey or Location, I would have to pay both shipping and sales tax, and with Trew, it's just shipping.

you can also check out www.bswusa.com

I've ordered several things from them over the years... Depending on the item, they can be cheaper than b&h and others as well... The radio station I used to work with gets all of their stuff from them

Be careful with the sales tax thing. California can techincally charge a "Use Tax" on all the equipment if you get audited. I know most pro audio places like Coffey (I know they do for sure) will offer you the reduced California sales tax for equipment used for production in California. It's something in the low 3%. I don't know about other states and how their taxes work.

I'm looking to buy an Oktava MK-012 with hyper cardiod cap. The only place I could find in North America was an eBay authorized dealer (?) Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Oktava-MK012-3-...hZ008QQcategoryZ41466QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I don't want all the caps that it comes with and it seems a little pricier than the $180 mentioned in one of the stickies. It's probably because it includes the other caps as well. I only want the hyper cardiod cap as I will be purchasing the items from Kit #8 in the sticky. If anyone has any other recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hah, thanks - I was just coming to this thread to edit my post. I found Sound Room in one of the other threads in the audio forum and found it. Seems like a good site and I'll feel much more comfortable ordering from here. Thanks a lot.

i'm the web guy for coffey sound, and we're continuously adding new products to the site. the new version of the site launched 6 months ago and back then we had about 100 products - now we're up to 650ish and it's growing every day. as an avid comparison shopper myself (newegg, pricewatch, froogle etc) i generally tend to check B&H for "market prices" first - and i use that in quotes because as we all know, they have had a reputation for changing market prices to get sales away from the specialty shops. but, there's not much you can do about it so the best thing is to use them as at least a reference. lately i've seen things shift back the other way - B&H's prices coming in higher than the specialty stores. it's a cycle, for sure.
i have major respect for all the other pro sound companies out there who are going above and beyond and providing excellent service in this industry. some places don't have the technical expertise, experience, or manpower to assist customers when something goes wrong. personalized service is always worth the extra $$ and sometimes it's less $$ than the other place anyway.

b@h never was the cheapest place but nether the pro audio for film - sorry but if you buy a box only i don't see any point not buy where it is cheaper .
and usually places for musicians are to check first
tell me can you sell me the g-2 for 418 incl the shipping? :-)

the place that sell it in that price dont have moods , the prices you give for mke2 platiium are also 50-60 usd cheaper then coffey , make your homewark , that is no money land :-)

actually oleg thanks for pointing that out, i didn't catch that. looks like it was an incomplete product addition cause there's no wiring option either. i like this forum ;)
