The "Shakiness" of Film

Well, at the festivals my movie was accepted in, they had a night of screenings. People could come, and we all sat down and watched the accepted videos. At the end of the night, people could come up and let you know what they thought of your work. Now, this is a bit different from the larger festivals - they take up to a week, perhaps longer, to screen all the movies. They have individual events for the individual movies - I know at the Toronto Film Festival they have several cinemas and run movies in all of them all the time - and a panel of judges I believe decides on which films win which awards. It's much more grand than the ones I've been accepted to - though I must say, they were still a lot of fun, and it's great hearing responses about my movies!

I don't know which website you're talking about - have you got me confused with somebody else?

Aaron Norris is a person. Don't know if he has a website or not.

A guy in town made a Christian movie and Aaron is supposedly releasing it, but that's all I heard.
Sure, I know how to contact him, but that's not the kind of thing you share publicly.

Alright, that's fine. I thought you meant that they are making a movie like that in Hollywood. That is why I got upset cause people would think I am copying off it.

What I said was your movie sounded like a formulaic episode of Walker: Texas Ranger.
That was an episodic television show in the 90's. Figured you had heard of it; guess not.

Just remember, in entertainment there is nothing original.
Just different ways of telling the same underlying stories.
This hasn't changed since the dawn of entertainment thousands of years ago.
Ever read a Greek play? Might do ya some good, but then again, maybe Bad Boys II is
all the education you need to make your movie. Dunno.

is there a list of settings in camera to get close to the skip bleach look? or a plugin?

i've been playing with the twixtor filter for premiere pro and after effects lately having some fun adding an exagerated blur or motion/speed look.

Matt, are you asking me? Are you asking how I got my image to be like that? I didn't understand who your question was being directed to.

i was just asking in general if anyone knew of settings in camera where you can get a bit of the skip bleach look.

There are several things that confuse me about this thread (I apologize for posting in something this old):

I look at the screens this guy posted towards the end of this thread, and they looked great; this very nice visual style. But then I searched for his other posts, and his other work, honestly, looked like crap. So I take it that these screens are fakes?

But that doesn't matter; because I want to know how the visuals in these images were achieved. They have this urban look to them. Someone mentioned a "washed-out" effect.

Also, I remember John Hudson posting a lot in this particular thread, and now, they've disappeared. Does that mean he can delete his own posts? If so, sign me up as a moderator!

Also, alot of those effects are done in optical printing...most films do not use in camera effects.

Questionman17....It seems like you're getting irritated at a problem that can't be solved. With the camera you have anyway. You want the film look of a "Saving private ryan", you better shoot 35mm. Even our beloved DVX can't replicate that. It can imitate it and you can get close, but in the end, no cigar. Save some money. Upgrade your camera, and quit complaining.

Higher shutter speed and also with HVX, variable frame rates can make a huge difference. I was watching the making of "Bourne Supremacy". In the B-roll they showed the fight sequence and it was shot on 30 frames and it looks nothing like the actual movie footage. Why because they change the frame rate to 20fps.
