Hey guys just wanted to pass the word around about stage 6 (stage6.com).

It the same idea as youtube but the compression is a KABILLION times better and so you can post stuff without it completly ruining your work.

Plus they don't try to own your work for posting it.

Just seems better. At least imho.

Anyhoo, it's a good option for some of us. Take a peek.

Here is some of my stuff if you wanna look.

What does "FTW" mean?

The player works fine. A bit underused as far as I'm concerned.

Youtube doesnt ruin videos. When a video is good i tend to focus on it, and not the compression. When you wander off because the video is boring, thats when you notice its not an interesting video at all, and looks terrible.

In any case, i think everyone should be hosting their own videos if they care about having their 'work' shown how they want it to be seen.

Oh, yeah I agree. DIVX is great. I thought it meant you hated it for some reason.

Oh and Cynic821, I agree that great content cannot be completly destroyed by poor compression and the fact that it's so widely used is why I still post on there. But come on, you put time and effort into something and it always hurts a bit when you see a bad compression job haggar the image. And lets face it, of all the free flash hosting sites Youtube's compression is probably the worst there is.

And as far as people host their own videos. Yeah, I guess I agree, if they can afford it but there are a lot of poor and young filmmakers out there that should have the ability to share their work without having to make the youtube image sacrifice.

Luckity the divix folks now offer that service for free.

Mmm divx does look nice for free (I think?) video hosting. Nothing beats an actual site where you can host in full resolution though.

im sure people could look around at what they spend their money on and find a way to trim that down, then we wouldnt have the 'pardon the compression' after every video post.
