Looking for a woman
it's pretty scary as i'm practically broke, but now is the time to do it if i'm ever going to. i've never written, directed, or acted in one before so i'll probably be asking a lot of dumb questions the next few months. anyways, i'll keep you guys posted and let you know once i get into sundance.

good luck, man. i'm doing the same thing. going to stop working August 1st to begin prepro for an October shoot. you gotta do it.

Hey good luck, go for it I say. You can always find another if need be,we don't always get the chance to go after our dreams so take the chance if you get it!...

I'm looking at an Aug 1 date to quit my job as well... I figure I moved to LA so that part's taken care of... now it's just time to put a few bucks in the bank and just "do it", as Nike says...

Then again, I'm quitting my job so that I can focus on both filmmaking and acting...

Wow... that takes SERIOUS balls to make a decision that big
Kudos to you for taking the plunge and I wish you the very best of luck!

it's big step quitting jobs and stepping into not knowing when the next pay check will arrive !! wishing you all the BEST on your projects ...

Hey congrats! Not sure if you can remember but about two weeks ago I put up a thread about quitting my work to pursue film making. Actually I was officially unemployed starting June 1. I finally got my own DVX like a week after and now, I have a music video (paying), and 3 other productions lined up for the summer. I think quitting work was THE BEST thing that ever happened. It sort of gives you time to concentrate on what is needed in order to attain your goals.

With your sense of humor...I'm pretty sure you'll succeed. I'll see you at Sundance

Yeah, I remember that thread... congrats on getting a few gigs lined up!

good luck....you must not have any kids hahaha

Not having a wife or kids definitely helps! I'm working on getting my cash flow needs to be less that 300 / week before I take the plunge.

if you have good people skills, and know what your doing (or start to)... you can do it.

I moved to LA the summer after highschool, I go to college in fall and spring, and work, save up money, and freelance during the summer, so far, almost year 3 and it's been working out.

... i find girlfriends a waste of money, haha. thats my biggest cost-save.

I think I posted to dangitskang's post about quitting. I quit about a month ago and its been great! I didn't do it for my own flick though, I did it to work on other people films until i'm ready for my own. About a week in I landed a few gigs for webasodes and then I landed lighting designer in a feature. I have been meeting a ton of people on this shoot and getting contacts and I even got a gig on another feature shooting in August. I second that this is THE BEST thing I have done in a long time. This is fun!

thanks for the support guys. i know it's only been like one day, but i already have a somewhat important favor to ask. in order to help maintain some money in the bank account, certain sacrifices must be made. with that in mind...

does anyone have a shed that i could live in for a few weeks? my presence will be very low key. you probably won't even know i'm there. i'd prefer access to a hose and some bushes, but that's not a deal killer if you can't provide that.

let me asap so i don't have to put this on craigslist.
