can I sell my old FCP?

So I had to buy a new full version of the new FCP 6 / Studio 2.

I have an old full version of FCP 5.0 / Studio can I sell it? Will the new owner be able to register it? It will not upgrade more probably since 5.1 was a lateral revision.

Just curious as I've never had a full version of software that I wasn't using.

I'd like to sell it if it's useable and it's legal.

Why couldn't you just upgrade?
 
Because I had Academic 5.0.

I was teaching at Tulane in New Orleans at the time and you can't upgrade from Academic even though it is identical to the regular FCP except for the fact that it says Academic when you start the program.
 
Ahh... that might have something to do with the licensing. The person that you would transfer the license too might need to be eligible for the Academic version of the software in order to keep it 100% legit... just a thought...
 
sure you can sell it. if you do, you're supposed to uninstall it from your computer.
 
You can probably sell it (I bought mine used off another user here and transferred registration with no problem). BUT, you might have a difficult time getting much out of it since the new owner won't be able to upgrade it. The curse of the academic license.
 
you should, but might not for much since it out dated and school version. The registery? well I think once you uninstall it and remove the register on your computer I think its ok. Tregistered on line might see new users but I think it wont be a big deal.
 
It will be perfect for someone with a G4 mac that wants full blown FCP that is the same version most people are using right now for 200 o 300 bucks vs. 800 for Academic or 1200 for Full.

Each version of FCP since 1.2 has added lots of system demand and 5.0 was the biggest jump until 6.0.

So probably not. I think FCP 1.2 and G3 iMacs were contemporaries.
 
Yeah as a work around for stuff I've caught right away I: click modify, do my edit, select all, copy, DELETE POST, post again with a cut and paste of the old post.
