Ok, I film a short this past weekend in a mini dv, my questions is whats is the best setting in FCP TO use. What is the best setting if a want it to show it on theaters.
Thank you.

that depends on how you shot the footage...what settings did you use? Hopefully you shot progressive??

what level of experience in FCP do you have?

I have experience editing with FCP but I been working with a camera jus for a few months now.
I think I shot progressive (I think so) because record it everything on film (mini dv).
(correct me if I wrong) I could appreciatte your help.

If you shot progressive you would have used the Scene dial on the back and selected F5 or F6.

These will have recorded the footage to tape with a specific pull-down that can create a solid frame image from the interlaced scan.

Did you shoot with the PAL or NTSC camera?

Regardless of the camera, sort of, you just need to know if you shot 29.97 (standard DV), 24p, or 24pA. If you shot either of the first two, then just use the standard DV NTSC 48kHz capture preset in FCP. If you shot 24pA, then you need to use the DV NTSC 48kHz Advanced Pulldown preset in FCP.

Also, if you shot Anamorphic, you can duplicate any of the above presets and make yourself Anamorphic equivalents (if they aren't already there). Just hit the duplicate button, rename it at the top, and turn on the Anamorphic check box. If you miss this step or forget it, no worry, you can always do it after the fact (just wastes a bit of time).

cheers.
