AI or non AI, that is the question.

I'm checking out some lenses and I don't know what AI and non AI means. I've searched and all I get is stuff on Artificial Intelligence... Could some one tell me what that means and do I want AI or non AI?

Cool! Thanks a lot. More than I asked for.

So from what I read it doesn't matter if it's AI or non AI for a video camer on an adapter because the AI function wouldn't work, right?
 
Right it shouldn't matter. One thing you should consider is that some non ai lenses might not have room or may need to be modified for lens gears to be added for a follow focus.
