Spyfest newbies

Why is it most people avoid posting in dvxuser festival newbie's threads?
Is it because they just do not have time as they are as busy as they are?

Are they afraid it will somehow diminish thier reputation . Is it a disgrace to lower yourself to actually try talking to a complete amateure? Or is it they don't know what to say? Like what are you shooting with, where, how long.
Nice to meet you.

Are they afraid to meet new people? Is it because they are from a different country?

Do they feel if they talk to someone who appears to be less talented than them that they will somehow diminish thier own achievments?

Is it beacuse they have nothing in common with which to start a conversation?

Because that is what is happening and alot of these new guys/gals should and probably do feel disgusted at the attitudes that I am seeing around here.

Just my opinion. Just want an honest answer as I do not understand.
-thanks

It would not hurt you to just say hello and welcome.

I agree with Brandon, I like seeing the work and then commenting. Which threads are you referring to? I don't see many "zero" threads in SpyFest.

Right, the threads will really get going once people have a chance to watch the films. Right now, it's more people just hanging out and they tend to hang out with people they know from the board. Don't worry, your thread will light up soon and I promise to stop by.

No-no, its not my thread, I don't have one. I have noticed tonight and
in the past that some threads [spyfest newbies](there were three today I think)
that people skipped over. I just feel it's a shame that people don't welcome
or even say hello to the new guys.

I sit and watch thier post fall down the page as if people are walking over them. Okay, a little dramatic, but I'm sure some must feel like that.

What does it take to say hello, welcome to DVX?
That's the part I don't get.

/No zero threads now? good.
-thanks

It really does cut both ways. If a person puts up a thread, then he/she has to put
content on that thread that will 'attract' others to come in. Sort of like that
mannequin on a store window, put on the trendy clothes, people will come in and
take a look around.

If you do nothing to pump up your thread, then you are just as guilty/innocent as
those who don't drop by to say hi.

Marketing, marketing, marketing, it comes from making a name for yourself,
from putting yourself out there, from making sure you are not the quietest one in
the room.

Yes totally agree charlie but I mean the 'first time caller' guys.

case in point...
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=99080

that thread was almost off the page before I replied.

Anyways...thats about all I have to say. Some new person comes in, first time here, just say hello. That's all. :)

Onward....

for all we know aFox is a Genius.

Look at Zenon's film. Night stalkers from Horror fest. ( it wasnt in competiiton) it was EASILY the best movie, but he was a newbie (on the board.... not to making movies) and noone noticed his thread.
