Have you guys seen this? Sorry if this has already been posted, but yikes. I cannot wait for the new Batman. The Joker looks sick. That's Heath Ledger under there for those of you who don't know.

That's one crazy looking mofo.

Actually, the *original* Joker of the 30's and 40's was a pretty scary dude. Back then, cartoons and comics weren't intended for children, so they often had strong themes. It wasn't until the 50's and 60's that they became more family friendly.

Apparently, they are serious about going back to Batman's roots.

I know the Joker from *every* era, and that (as I said) ain't the Joker.

In the comics, the Joker was always scary. But that makeup is conceptually all wrong.

I have to say I agree about the make up looking bad, but it may just be a shot taken out of context. Maybe Joker was trashed, in a car on a bumpy road, and trying to apply the makeup?

personally, i like the direction they're taking it.
So do I. Batman Begins is the better of the recent super hero movies. I hated all Spiderman movies, was semi interested in the X-Men movies, and the less said about the Fantastic 4 the better.

Christopher Nolan has really done a great job with the new Batman series, especially after the crap that was Batman and Robin. Batman Begins was so good story and mood wise that I can even forgive the major plot flaw.

i have to agree with D. Jimerson. He doesn't look like the Joker. He looks like hes from the movie Crow.

I appreciate having your own spin on it but that look doesn't do it for me. And, Heath Ledger as The Joker. Now THATS preposterous.

He does look like the Joker. He has the white face and red lips. We can't see his hair so we don't know if it is green. To me he looks like him but a more demented version which I like. Nicholson nailed the more expected Joker type so there is no point trying to compete with that.

I am not a big fan of Heath Ledger but he can do a great job if he plays it more seriously. Wikipedia has some interesting comments on it:

well, i understand how the joker became the joker...with the chemicals etc. So, they might be trying to go for a more disfigured look. but, like D. Jimerson suggests...he needs to be scarier.

He also has a permanent, giant, wide-toothed grin, which was as much a part of the character as anything.

I'd have to agree with David here. He really doesn't look like the joker. More like the movie Crow...actually never watched to movie crow but the horrible TV series Crow
