"On The Lot" tonight

I thought the stop time one was good also. The composite was impressive especially for 24 hours. Can't say the same about any of the others.

I doubt we even got to see the entire film on any of the ones shown.

after effects and good old camera tricks.
I realize you can use After Effects to do that kind of stuff, but I don't see how you could possibly do it in that time frame. For example, don't you have roto each of those clothes hangers by hand. Sure you can do it, but they couldn't of had but 6 hours to edit and do all the effects. I know people who are good with AE, but that just seems really fast.

there was only 2 shots with clothes hangers...one of it coming at the camera (which could be frozen and simply roto'd as one image (just the hangers they go behind). And the shot of them from far away, couldn't you simply take a straight shot of a hanger, roto it, and use it in 3D space in AE to just scale and move it accordingly? Its really not a hard thing to do, in those wide shots the hanger (even if its completely flat as a 2D image) should work just fine. Everything else was a simple 1 frame mask, so idk why folks think its so impossible lol.

Oh no I missed tonights episode..I was out with friends!!!

How can I watch it?? I didnt set my DVR to record...DAMN

We saw what they wanted us to see but I did like "Random Acts of Kindness" and "Time Out." Both were impressive.

I see Tom Calloway is a cinematographer on the next episode (Monday). He was the cinematographer for Feast, another reality series...Project Greenlight.

Yeah, I recognized him too....

Overall, I liked the shorts I saw... DVX looked good on screen :)

I am excited to see this 1 page script thing next week.

They should really link these films on their site. Right now i'm not really invested in any of these people because i've barely seen anything they've done.

Hey, how do you watch all the contestant's movies on the site. It seems silly and a little bit stupid to not have a special page clearly dedicated to that.

edit: sorry Matty, I read that after I posted mine. But the point is, we both have the same problems with their site, and that means the ON THE LOT producers have really screwed up.

Even though I enjoy watching the show because everything is so close to what i want to do, things like what I mentioned above, and the quality of the actual production make me believe the show is sloppily produced.

I like Brett Ratner and Gary Marshall as judges though. They're perfect. Both are funny and even though Brett's caught some slack recently, stretching beyond his capabilities, he's still one of the most well-spoken people in Hollywood (which I believe is why he's gotten where he is. He knows how to convince people to let him make a movie). And could they have been more obvious with the drunken judge choice? Carrie Fischer is a known alcholic/drug addict/psychologically crazy kookoo bird. Their plan is to let her have a meltdown on national TV, get some free publicity out of it, and drive up the ratings in the process. When I movied to L.A. I ended up teaching her daughter tennis (had no idea it was Carrie Fischer's daughter at the time). The girl, at 6, was a conniving, manipulative, tantrum-throwing devil child with absolutely no respect for authority, maybe the worst behaved kid I have ever met (and I teach kids for a living). After sitting her down for repeatedly hatching her devil-like plots, I received a surprise visit from her angry mother. Carrie Freaking Fischer. Carrie wanted to know who this pro was who, according to her daughter "was sitting her down for no reason at all". Uhhhh, how do you tell Princess Leia that that the reason her daughter is being sit down is not because of her tennis pro, but because of her lack of parenting skills and, likely, attention to her daughter on a daily basis. Especially when she's drunk? Anyway, Carrie is a train-wreck waiting to happen and I hope this show continues because we'll all get to see the crash.

No, I guess it wasn't.

What exactly do they mean by 24 hrs to make the film. Does that include casting, securing locations, etc.? I don't have TV, so haven't seen the show.

Yeah maybe i was just looking too soon after the show.
After the first one i was looking for the top 50 people's films and they didn't seem to have them organized anywhere for people to view.
