keeping 16:9 aspect ratio while exporting movie in FCP

Hi,
I have Mac Book Pro with FCP 5.12 installed.
I shot some movies in 720PN mode and edited them on FCP. When I'm exporting the movie, the final output is losing the aspect ratio even though I used Anamorphic option for the sequence settings.
I tried all possible exports using QT, QT Compression, Compressor, but, no use.
Could any one please suggest where I'm doing wrong?

Thanks Very Much,

are you exporting to .mov? open it up in QT and go to movie properties... there you can change the viewing resolution. Then just go to file>save.

I tend to save my web videos at 480x360 and then adjust the vieing res to 640x360 (equivalent of anamorphic)

I used Anamorphic option for the sequence settings

I think that's your problem mate. The anamorphic setting is really meant for SD squeeze mode/anamorphic lens material. HD (720pN) is already natively anamorphic. All HD is 16x9 natively, you don't need to flag FCP to that extent. If you use an HD sequence preset (DVCPro HD 720p24) then FCP will already have it as such.

Unless you're trying to export stills. FCP exports DVCPro HD stills as ah 960 (?), or something like that. You need to go into your image editing program and manually (or make an action in Photoshop) and adjust the widths to 1280 (but make sure to turn any kind of "Keep Proportions" setting off).

If that's not it, can you be a little more specific to your exact setup. What is the original footage at, what are your sequence settings, what are you doing to export, and what are you exporting for. Good luck.

cheers.

Thanks, bigbossbmb. I will try to do that and see.
Thanks VaricamLife. I shot in 720PN and used preset sequence for 720P24 to edit. I will remove the Anamorphic and check what happens.
