24pa pull down removal whole tape capture?

I typically work on documentaries with 100+ hours of footage per project. On this next one, I want to start from the get go with shooting 24pa so we have a nice 24p DVD at the end (huge difference in quality I've found). I have a perhaps silly question about logging and capturing 24pa with pulldown removal. I like to just capture whole tapes, make subclips and delete the rest. Saves hours and hours. I thought logically, this might not work with 24pa removal as I assume the cadence resets after every take.

My question is can i ingest whole tapes at once with 24pa with on the fly removal, or even post cinema tools removal for that matter? My guess is no, each clip needs to be an individual shot.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You could try with automatic clip detection but log and capturing kills several birds with one stone. You get a look at the footage and see if it's actually worth capturing, make sure there are no technical glitches and get the 24p reversed properly. I'd recommend bringing on an assistant or intern to do the capturing.

Hey, thanks for your help. Yeh it'd be nice if budgets could afford assistants, but not usually the case. just me plugging away for a year at a time.
thanks again

NoahK,
I read your sticky re capture vs ingest frame rates from a DVX100...and I assume the same hold true for HVX200 when using tape and 480.

The HVX is connected to my Macbook Pro via firewire, and I'm ready to Log and Capture.

In the "audio/video settings" tab for FCP there is a "system preset" and a "capture preset". Based on your sticky, what do I select in each of those for tape shot in 480/24pa?
