that should be the right bbg (20mm). Get the fur too if you want to shoot outside. I don't think you can use a shotgun zepplin with your hyper. I would just get the bbg, it rocks!! I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

yep , its 32 cm long , good enough for short mics as ntg-1
extension barrel is xlr male to female adaptor
usually you can find these as attenuator or phase inverters , i bet that Coffey or any others carry these and could make you 1 only with direct wires
the barrel will give you another 10 cm to the lenght of your mic

this the neutric adaptor

if you cant find try email psc as they make barrel adaptors and may be will send you one

Thank you Oleg! So the short K-Tek with the barrel would work for almost any mic... that sounds like a good way to go, so all I have left to ask about this option besides the pictures :) is the following:

Is this K-Tek worth it's cost? $300 is half of the full-on complete Zeppelin package...

Smithy, I have location sound 7 blocks away from me :) but I really don't like their prices :( I thought about renting but I hate wasting money...

Have you priced over at EVS in glendale? Ask for Tommy Mack. also ask for the dvxuser discount. They also offer the reduced sales tax for CA production companies just like coffey sound offers. You must ask though.

no, I will have to call around Monday for rental quotes since prices are not listed...

I juuuuust might be able to borrow one but I think I'll be better off buying and being done with it...

hummm....

this is a complete zeppelin package the other one do the same and make you pocket empty, dont waist your money on robbing barons

I am about 90% sure I am going to pick up the K-Tek tomorow from Coffey/Location whichever has the lowest price... I will try to add a stocking to the cylinder since it doesn't have the gray mesh... not right away, but later when I have time to mess with it... it can't hurt right? (as long as I do a nice looking job)

Just let them know you are talking to the other place for lowest price, they will most likely hit the exact same price. It actually helps to build a relationship with one dealer. They tend to offer up "extras" to regular customers and will get you that "special" deal on rentals and such.

YMMV but IMHO having a consistent retailer is better then the 2 bucks you might save swapping dealers on every purchase.

Just a thought

true... good point... unfortunately I purchased my stuff from B&H and only my MixPre from Location Sound... aaaand, I really think I should be going to Coffey Sound even though Location is 7 blocks away... hummmm.....

Ok, so I picked up a K-Tek Zeppelin for a whooping $265 at Coffey Sound!!!

Just mounted my Oktava and MixPre, and monitoring from the camera (which is my current workflow for this movie) I started swinging the boom around like a monkey... nothing!!! I was indoors though, but I was swinging it waaaaaaay faster than I ever had before... nothing!!! :)

Four guys working in the rental department there said the performance should be on-par with the Rycote version....

Oleg, thank you for your comments on this product, it seems it is a ridiculously better buy and there might not be any quality compromise at all!!!

Besides the Rode shock mount, the Sony Headphones and the XLR's including my cheap home made snake, and well... nothing else... :D here is what I'll be using Wednesday and

Glad to see that you got it sorted out.
That's a nice, solid zeppelin for the money. You'll have no worries with it.

Good luck with the shoot on Wednesday.

Neal.

Hey Neal!

Yea, it is amazing for the money... like I said I was swinging it like a mad man and no wind noise at all... I still want to thank you for your offer though!

There is also Action Audio on Highland next to Indie Rentals for those on the good side of the hill and Wilcox Sound for sound rentals shops in addition to Coffey and LSC.

Stay away from Samy's, Birns and especially EVS. The Ktek zeppelin is worth the money unlike Rycote.
