what do you carry all your audio in?

what are you guys carrying all your audio gear in? now that my audio kit is growing i need something that wont bend up or break my mics and accesories, etc.

I went to Wallymart and bought a rolling plastic tool box for about $25. It has all the room and compartments you'll ever need. I have extension cords, gels, mics, filters, batteries, adapters, tools, and all sorts of other stuff in mine.

i also use a pelican. it becomes my ghetto sound cart. handle pulls up, i rest mixer there and pull it around

Everybody uses Pelican. I'll have to check out the storm cases. If you plan to stick with this for a while (and get pro work) then I'd highly recommend that you get something like Pelican.

so just any pelican? i'm seeing tons of them on B&H but they are mostly for laptops and laptop accesories. can anybody post up a link of which one is pretty good? is there a certain one all you guys are talking about?

I use two cases. For around town I have a Porta-brace Cargo-3 soft case, and when I travel I use a Porta-brace PB2750DK hard case. The hard case has wheels, and I also use the method listed above---- pull up the handle and rest my mixer and wireless case on top of the hard case in an upright position. Real Handy.

For Audio, a lot of people use the Pelican 1600 series cases with dividers. I think you can get a 'wheeled' version of this case as well.

By the way, check out the K-tek Avalon Traveler Boom Pole. It's small enough to fit inside a closed case. Plus, it's super-cute!

TV Sound and I used the 1510, which is a carry-on luggage size with wheels, a good size for my mixer bag.(I also use it as a wheel around budget-cart!).

The other one I have for mics, radio mics, tools and everything is the 1600. I got it with deviders and it really holds things nicely.

ah - I have a pic.

as dumb as it sounds, i also use heavy duty plastic toolboxes - big one with wheels for most gear, and a second smaller one for my mixer and wireless.

i know pelican is great, but i paid so little for these and quite honestly they do a great job. never had a funny look on a set, either. :)

I feel the same way. The only disadvantage is, these aren't meant for air travel... which really isn't a problem because I don't fly.

i've flown with them tons of times - got locks, and purpose cut foam interiors. Works like a charm, no hassles.

I've been using the Portabrace hard cases (I think they're called vaults or the vault series). They are very close to Pelican in quality and about a third less money. B&H occasionally will have a deal where if you buy one of the larger cases, you get one of the smaller ones for free. I bought a large case for my mixer (Alesis 16 FW) and got a smaller case that holds my Tascam HD-P2 and my SD 302 (and the necessary power cables and such).

If you want to get really serious you could buy this cart. I do have a few drawers that I could throw in as well.

i have the largest production case that porta brace makes...

it fits perfectly on the bottom of a rock-n-roller cart.

for my sound bag i am always looking for something that might fit better or fit differently on my changing kit contents.

for hard cases i have a lot of storm cases.

i like the small pouches with colored tabs that porta brace makes...with the large production bag it can get incredibly disorganized if you don't subdivide it.

so i have 3 or 4 of the full size dividers and then i custom ordered like 10 of the large black pouches with different colors and i have things grouped into the divided sections based on what they are.

kind of anal i guess but i always have what i need and i can find it right away.
