Frank Miller's next comic flick - RONIN

what the hell??? i guess if zack synder can do it then this guy can. now that i think about it how the hell did zack synder get to direct 300 with his track record which isnt that much better then this guy

frank miller just giving this to the directors with the cheapest rates???? :huh:
 
its all just a trend-everyone wants his prooperty, i dont think its up to him to choose the director, i'm sure the studio who bought the rights is picking and they dont always pick the best director, but everyone deserves a chance.
 
This really isnt surprising. Are we even expecting anything from a frank miller adaptation? Sin City was garbage and 300 was what garbage throws out after wiping its...
 
i agree but its making crazy $$$....the stories are pretty weak though...if it wasnt for 300's video-game look i wouldnt have gone to see it. :)
 
It's pretty pathetic when the new trends in Hollywood are re-makes, and adapting Frank Miller comics and shooting them on greenscreen.
 
was frank miller's stuff even selling back in the day? as a kid i used to read my dad's comics and all he had was marvel and DC comics.
 
I have the original first set of these. I think they came out in the early 80s. I remember them as being good, but I was in high school at the time. I thought Schmidts was good beer then too. :beer:

I'll dig em out and give them a read.

I also really like these films, in that they're not really about story, they're more about visuals. I'll be the first to bash anything that makes too much use of CG at expense to story, but these were very enjoyable to watch. Same with Grindhouse, I really like the whole idea of B movies done with huge budget. The movies still suck, but they're fun.

anyway yes RONIN is a great story as is all miller's stuff. Miller made BATMAN, BATMAN agian a guy who is f'n crazy and more serious than the killers he fought.

so His work is really good. He made daredevil good. Wolverine more bloodlusted. Batman good and other stories to us. He wrote the robocop films before they got butchered and when he gave them robocop 3 another writer took it and stole elements from RONIN and put it in it. Cyborg ninjas....

As greenscreen I love 300 visuals and sin city was cool. so I don't mind it breathes life into some films. if sin city was shot normally i dont think it would have been nearly as entertaining.

Ronin is a story that travels to emotional brinks and violence. it is superb.

so I hope the person hiring him has seen something we haven't, I would have rather seen Darren Aronofsky's version.

the last person i saw doing sin city was RR so perhaps this person will do something good.

till then the watchmen should be something to look foward too. if you like zacks stuff.
