I was thinking about this recently and have a bit of experience with a model like this now too as I'll explain in a moment. But another possibility is: I think it's entirely likely that there might have been some challenge by arri on how close they were in looks and maybe they were forced to take them off the market in the usa. Either that or they ordered a bunch and the order never showed up from their supplier who is probably in China. You really have to be careful over here as there is some fraud.
I've seen a bunch of these kinds of small fresnels in China and we've contacted manufacturers because we want to buy just the housing to use in our new HMI 150w fresnel. The size would seem to be perfect for an instrument like this plus I like the looks too although we'll probably go with black color.
The process usually goes like this: we contact, they are excited to talk to us, we get to ordering a sample for evaluation and the excuses start coming about why they can't supply us with it or the price is outrageously high for just a housing; then we go to the next factory offering one and the process starts all over again. We've wasted a bunch of time on this with 3 or 4 factories. We found one that's supposedly shipping us one but we won't get it for a few days yet.
Very strange how this model seems to be plagued with supply flakiness issues.

its called china...
thats how auto suppliers are getting screwed right now... they give a quote, the US auto companies say its to high, a company from china gives a low ball quote, you lose the biz, and china ends up never producing the part because they can't even make it for that cheap... jerks.

So I found the shop, they do have a sign and everything... but either they are never there, or they go to lunch like normal people from 12-1 because nobody was there both Thurs and Fri when I went down there durring my lunch break....

Are these things half as much as an Arri or Altman Proline? Seems like people are really jumping through a lot of hoops just to try and purchase one of these.
Man, at the beginning (and definitely at the end) of a $300 or $3,000 transaction, I'd love to be able to call Altman directly or my Arri distributor than deal with having to stalk some guys in Simi Valley or Tarzana.
Not a good way to get things rolling for a new product. Lame. I'm surprised this crap is getting so much attention here. Take a step back and look at the big picture.

I am ordering 2 off eBay to try out. A few people said great things about the Bluelines saying how much there almost identical to the Arri Fresnels. What do you guys got to lose? Just buy one.
